Co-Director of Boss
Hi Everyone, Sam here! Part of the double act that created B.O.S.S. Acting School.
The main thing you need to know about me is I like to Sing, Dance and be really SILLY!
I grew up on the sunny south coast of England near Portsmouth. As I got older, I had to attend a boarding school in Suffolk as my dad was touring with the Royal Navy. Little did I know, the school had an incredible Drama department and I got the opportunity to participate in lots of exciting productions with crazy budgets (my favourite was playing Tallulah in the famous Bugsy Malone!) This is definitely where my love of the Stage grew and I knew it was what I wanted to do!
I then left school to attend a Performing Arts College to hone my craft before auditioning for different Drama Schools in London. I gained a place on the BA (Hons) Acting Degree at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. The training was HARD with 9 hour days, 5 days a week. If you were even a minute late to warm up in the morning, you would be locked out of school for a full day! However, the training was 1st class and an amazing experience.
Since graduating some of my credits include being the Voice recognition aid in Toyota vehicles, a lead role in the UK Tour of the New Musical ‘The Egg Rumor’ in theatres such as The Old Joint Stock Theatre Birmingham, Etcetera Theatre Camden, The Old Red Lion and more. I also got the opportunity to tour two different plays around stunning Italy for six months (being able to travel is definitely a perk of the industry!), as well as participating in various T.I.E (theatre in education) productions and pantomimes.
Besides acting, my favorite thing to do is to teach and inspire young people to do the same! There is nothing better than seeing children transform with confidence, creativity and having an absolute blast doing it!! Myself and Jenn created B.O.S.S. as we felt like vocational acting courses/clubs for children either lacked core skills or lacked the ability to deliver the fun element alongside high quality.
At BOSS we deliver both!
My Motto is: There is a lot of magic on the other side of a little fear.
Co-Director of Boss
Hello! I’m Jenn, co-director of B.O.S.S Acting School.
Originating from East London/Essex I always enjoyed acting from a young age but I didn’t have many performing schools locally (or the confidence!) for me to explore this passion. Luckily, I had a great Drama teacher at school who encouraged me to do school plays and eventually supported my decision to apply for Drama School. At 18 I successfully gained a place on the BA(Hons) Acting course at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts where I trained on stage and screen for three years. It was an incredible experience finding my creative voice, expanding my skill set and making friends for life!
Upon graduating I auditioned and gained a role on Hollyoaks as series regular Rachel Hardy. I worked on the soap for just under a year and loved the experience of being on set everyday and watching the behind the scenes making of each episode. Since then I have had various TV and Film credits, including BBC’s ‘White Gold’ series 1 and 2, Lionsgates ‘My Name is Lenny’, ‘Astral’ and more recently ‘The Last Letter to your Lover’. I have also worked in Theatre in The Gym Thing (Pleasance Theatre).
Alongside working as an actor I have taught acting classes to ages 2-16 for five years now. I love being able to share my passion with young people and watch them grow as little performers. My proudest moments are seeing the children I work with sharing their ideas confidently with the group and building a performance as a team.
It became clear to me that whilst there are many fantastic drama schools for kids, there weren’t many schools offering camera work and the ability for kids to learn this skill. That's where B.O.S.S. Acting grew with my co-director Sam. I find it so important for children to explore their own creative identity and have an outlet that allows them to express themselves - there's real power in that! Whilst we love training little performers, we also love giving children the opportunity to explore what it’s like behind the scenes; what goes into making a film, how to put together a theatre show and allowing their B.O.S.S experience to be collaborative and exciting.
My Motto is: Self-Expression is your Superpower!
